The Project
Immersive Horizons is a collaborative project designed to bring cutting-edge virtual reality films and experiences from French Filmmakers to Fulton County residents through a partnership between the Public Art Futures Lab, Fulton County Library System, and Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Foundation. Over the course of eight weeks in 2025, 12 library branches will make available VR headsets preloaded with four critically acclaimed films from French production company Diversion Cinema for guests to screen. These films from Diversion Cinema, funded through a grant from Villa Albertine, will offer audiences ages 10+ a chance to engage with global perspectives, innovative storytelling, and immersive technology.
Coming to a Library Near You in Spring 2025!
Prepare to be captivated by VR Immersive Horizons, a unique virtual reality experience from France arriving at select Fulton County libraries this spring. Brought to you by the Public Art Futures Lab and the Fulton County Library System in collaboration with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Foundation and supported a grant from Villa Albertine, this project showcases innovative VR films from renowned French VR filmmakers and artists.

The Public Art Futures Lab will provide each location with VR headsets loaded with a lineup of these four immersive VR films, each selected for their artistic excellence and power to transform perceptions. Guests will be able to view these titles while visiting the library during the scheduled dates, availability varies by branch.
Exploring Global Perspectives Through Immersive Storytelling
The four films selected for Immersive Horizons showcase diverse cultural narratives and cutting-edge virtual reality experiences, offering audiences a chance to explore themes of connection, resilience, and creativity. Curated in partnership with Diversion Cinema, these works represent some of the most innovative uses of VR technology in storytelling, bringing international perspectives to Fulton County residents.

Synopsis: On a hot and dry day, survival depends on a refuge in the forest. Approaching an oak tree, the ground and bark transform to reveal the tree's vital flows, inviting you to connect with its natural choreography.

Synopsis: Electronic music producer Molécule captures Arctic sounds to inspire his next composition. This cinematic journey takes viewers to the origins of musical creation in the Arctic's frozen expanse.

Synopsis: Yuri, a Korean woman, recalls a childhood adventure to find her father, a violinist soldier in North Korea. Her journey takes her through a demilitarized zone filled with memories, spirits, and traces of war.
